Tina Matthews-Hayes is a dual certified Nurse Practitioner from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She previously held the position of Clinical Manager at Western PA Behavioral Health Resources. Tina completed a RN diploma program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Shadyside School of Nursing. Tina began her career at the University of Pittsburgh Medial Center Presbyterian Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. She continued her education and gained a Bachelors in the Science of Nursing (BSN), Masters in the Science of Nursing (MSN), completed the Family Nurse Practitioner Program, and began a terminal degree /Doctor of Nurse practice at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA. While continuing employment in the cardiac intensive care, Tina maintained employment with Western Psychiatric Inpatient Clinic (WPIC) and Turtle Creek Mental Health Outpatient facilities. Upon completion of her MSN/FNP, Tina transitioned to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – Presbyterian in the Adult Cardiac Surgery division and maintained concomitant employment in the outpatient psychiatric setting. In 2012, Tina dedicated her practice to the area of psychiatry in impoverished communities at Western PA Behavioral Health Resources. She transitioned her doctoral studies to Walden University where she researched the benefits of pharmacogenomic testing in the pediatric psychiatric population while dually enrolled at Regis College of Massachusetts post secondary masters degree program to attain certification as a Primary Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Dr. Matthews-Hayes’ extensive cardiology experience gained while employed at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Cardiac ICU and Adult Cardiac Surgery serves as a catalyst to her dedication to a holistic patient-centered approach improving the treatment of all psychiatric patients, regardless of socioeconomic status. Tina is passionate about decreasing the stigma of mental health treatment and impowering other providers to diagnose and treat patients with novel treatments including the use of long acting injectables. Tina is a national Key Opinion Leader and serves on multiple advisory boards with the goal of advancing psychiatric care. Tina speaks nationally on the management of Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and the early diagnosis and treatment of Tardive Dyskinesia. She has extensive experience with full spectrum psychiatric care throughout the lifespan including ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Trauma, and personality disorder.
