Oliver
THERAPY DOG
Oliver, a golden retriever lab mix, arrived in the United States January 2019. The Southeastern Golden Retriever Rescue (SEVA) saved him from the streets of Turkey – he was near-death emaciated and wounded from abuse by humans and other animals. Soon after being adopted by the Brown family, Jenny initiated training with Oliver so that he could become a therapy dog. In May 2019 Oliver successfully received his certification from Therapy Dogs International (TDI). TDI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the regulating, testing, and registering of Therapy Dogs to provide comfort and companionship to individuals at participating facilities including hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare sites, schools, and libraries. Animals have long been recognized as a positive addition to the healing process. In facilities, visits by Therapy Dogs have provided increased happiness, calmness, and overall emotional well-being. Oliver has exhibited incredible resilience escaping the trauma of his first years of life to offer comfort to clients of Seaside Behavioral Health.
